Client Success Story
Alonzo McKenzie
Depressed, stressed and drained
After a meeting where I spoke, Alonzo McKenzie approached me and said, “I think you can help me.” The following day, he scheduled an appointment.

The Challenge
Alonzo, a 24-year-old man, described feeling depressed, entirely lost, and drained. He secluded himself in his bedroom after work and drank hard liquor most nights to numb the overwhelming feelings of grief and rage.
At the time, he was employed as a Financial Planner at New York Life and served as an Air Force Reserve Military Policeman.
Then, he revealed the nightmare that instantly shattered his life. Here’s what happened:
In October 2012, Alonzo and three childhood friends were toasting their successes at a bar in Pennsylvania. Alonzo, an Air Force Reserve Military Policeman, and his other friends were heading in different directions the following day.
Alonzo was getting into a girlfriend’s car when he suddenly heard gunshots. As a first responder, he instinctively ran toward the sound; within seconds, he was struck by a bullet in the upper thigh.
While running, he saw a hooded male chasing one of his childhood friends, Stephen, outside the club. Bleeding and risking his own life, Alonzo ran to assist his friend.
Tragically, Stephen Hardy was shot seven times and lay on the ground near death. Moments later, he took his last breath in Alonzo’s arms.
Months later, the trial revealed that Stephen Hardy’s death was a case of mistaken identity related to gang violence, a tragedy difficult to comprehend. Stephen, a college senior and honor student studying engineering, lost his life unnecessarily.
Solutions
As I moved toward processing, it was challenging to determine where to start, considering the tragedy of this experience. I relied on my intuition.
We settled on a hypnotherapy technique known as Ethereal Plane Connection (EPC) to connect with and communicate with Alonzo’s deceased friend, Stephen. EPC allows for spiritual exploration through deep relaxation, guided imagery, and a connection to profound wisdom and guidance that resides within all of us.
The emotional reunion at the river where they swam as teens brought tears to Alonzo. Stephen inspired Alonzo to live his life fully and not waste it on this senseless tragedy, as he was alive in a new way.
Alonzo recognized that he could honor Stephen’s death by helping others in some way while also healing himself.
Alonzo headed home. In the experience, we did not address his rage, discuss alcohol consumption, or delve into aspects of the trauma itself.
Results
One week later, Alonzo reported experiencing renewed vitality and expressed feelings of peace and increased happiness. Additionally, he stated that he felt spiritually connected to his friend and their life circumstances.
Four months later, Alonzo called me out of the blue and reported that since our work together, his life had changed 180 degrees. He stopped drinking alcohol, went back to church, and quit his job at NY Life.
Alonzo started a business called “Real Talk,” where he traveled and spoke to young people around the USA about tragedy, triumph, and gang warfare. Alonzo’s life was healing. In his heart, he held Stephen’s life and death and their life together to preserve the memories they shared while he honored his own life.
Alonzo’s story and our work together appeared in Mt. Lebanon Neighbor Magazine.

“I couldn’t even begin explaining how much this experience has helped me. One of the best characteristics of this whole experience is how genuine and passionate you are about your profession and clients. Thank you so much for the follow-up letter.”
